There are an endless number of advantages that the ceramic ball bearings have provided over the steel bearings though at a substantially higher cost.

Man invented wheel thousands of years ago and it became one of the most important inventions till date. This evolved from the logs that were used to move such objects which were too heavy to move. After many years and various other modifications, modern day ball bearings came into being. These are being used in a number of modern day machines. Initially, steel balls were used in majority of the machines. However, these too are being replaced by ceramic ball bearings due to a large number of advantages that these have over the steel balls.

The earliest known modern day use of such bearings was done in the eighteenth century by a person named Philip Vaughan in Wales who designed a machine to support the carriage axle. The manufacturing industry has got benefited a lot from the use of such bearings due to the various advantages offered by them. These are increasingly being used in such machines which operate at high speeds and thus a problem of lubrication is faced in them.

Further, the ceramic ball bearings do not get contaminated as compared to steel ball bearings. These help in reducing the heat generated and vibrations produced in such machines. This is because of their comparatively lower density and higher strength. As the ceramic ball bearings are not prepared from any metal; these have an added advantage of electric insulation. Further, these do not suffer from the problems related with magnetism.

These have better abrasion resistance and can be used to work in tougher conditions. Due to various advantages, these last really long and have longer lives as compared to the steel ball bearings. These have lighter weight than any other ball bearings and can operate at much higher speeds. We would see a bigger use of such bearings in future.

Ceramic ball bearings are traditionally made using ceramic rolling elements that are enhanced with super-finished steel rings. It is considered as a combination that has been hybridized, allowing for a superior performance provided that it is cost-effective. The use of ceramic bearings has been proven to give professionally outstanding results that are guaranteed to last for a lifetime. High spindle speeds are also characteristically occupied. The normal size of the bearings is within the range of 10mm to 200mm.

Ceramic ball bearings have been designed in such a way that the super-finished steel rings allow for faster running and better performance. It is also studied to be cooler and longer compared to other kinds of bearings. This kind of developed design is more advanced in contrast with typical ball bearings. The selection of the design and the materials constitute the rigidity of the bearings, resulting to reduced noise, vibration and temperature.

To make things even easier, these van even be ordered with or without seals. The usual package can be ordered at your own disposal, and there are also extended packages that include different specifications of additional enhancements for better assembly.

These bearings have many applications. They are used in aircraft generators, biotechnology equipments, high speed machines and grinding spindles, mills, precision instruments, pumps and compressors.

There are three main types of ceramic ball bearings. There are ceramic hybrid ball bearings that are equipped with rolling elements and an inner and outer ring that is still part of the steels. The second type is the partial bearings, where the outer bearings are made of steel while the inner ring is ceramic. The last type is the full ceramic ball bearing, where the rolling elements, inner rings and outer rings are all made of silicon nitride.

The best yet is the ceramic hybrid ball bearings. It is mostly created using premium quality ceramic balls that are of good performance.

Leading ceramic ball makers are reinventing themselves with the accumulation of hybrid technology which they have been stacking up on their bases. The sizes vary according to the needs of the different application subjects that use such bearings. To make sure that there are enough stocked, over 2000 bearings are kept in the stocking room available for backup. Special needs are also catered to by big branches. All you have to do is drop them a call and you will have your specialized bearings in no time.

The hybrid ceramic ball bearings are made to be more precise, with its components carefully melded together for better performance and durability. The use of silicon nitride assures that the bearings are heat absorbing and resilient. These are assured to withstand extreme temperatures without giving way to changes in shape or performance.
